ok real quick what are the d series motors that are vtec and which arent ...... friend just bouht an 96 ek and the engine code is d16y8 thanks guys

There are more than those too. I know the vx motor is a econo vtec...slow as shit. HX is vtec too...same thing...basically vtec for economy.

No the vtec-e isn't true vtec it's a d15z1 it only deals with timing and thats it

there are d15's with 3 stage vtec, parts are HARD to get and its for fuel economy- 1st stage=2 valves open, then normal,a nd then the 3rd stage is vtec.
