Fire Department...
Yes if you have TRFA they might let you in with just a refresher course , Havent ever seen it done though. But all cities around here arent TRFA. I believe only Norfolk, Newport News and The Beach, maybe Suffolk. But I know Va beach wont except anyone with TRFA unless it was through them.
ahh i didnt know that many TRFA....as for going to VA beach I know at least now you have to go through theirs again. A guy that worked at my station went to va beach a couple months ago and had to go through the whole thing again. But he did say it was cake compared to Norfolks academy.
What really sucks is now he wants to come back to Norfolk! haha guess the grass isnt always greener on the other side
at least ya'll get paid
in the last three weeks, we had two days that had multiple structures back to back. nothing sucks worse than a 22 hr day that started the night before putting out a house then going in and working like hell all day long, then back to multiple wrecks.all for that huge paycheck with all them zeros. i tell people we get a six figure paycheck. too bad them figures are all zeros. oh well.
hey man i work for Norfolk Fire Rescue and i love it. my dad works for vbfd and thats where i wanted to go but norfolk is a lot more laid back when it comes to station life. like everyone else says, apply everywhere. put your ap in at norfolk, call city hall and then can send one out to you and you mail it back. academy starts in december (so far). good luck man i hope you get in somewhere!!
