The proper way to remove trim on doors/fenders
Ok I have a ek hatch and I was wondering how I remove the outside black paneling a little bit more properly than just pulling them off, I plan on putting them back on so I don't want to break the tabs. Any help would be nice.
If you're referring to the body side moldings, I recommend that you remove the door panels and the rear interior plastic side pieces in order to pop the clips out of the holes. For the front fenders, undo the screws that hold the fender liners and you'll gain access to those clips as well.
yes, that is what I was meaning. Thanks for the advice, I had thought about that and honestly I was trying to avoid that. I didn't know if there was a tool that would go behind there and hit the clips just right.
thanks though, I think I am going to end up doing it that way.

the problem youre going to run into though is that you cant reach all of them because of the metal plate that blocks the clips. i had that problem with my teg at least and had to pull to remove a couple of them anyway. good luck though bro.
there should be a clip at the front of the door that after removing all the others tou slide the molding forward to get it out. then that clip will just turn and slide out.
p.s. removing the door panels isn't that hard.
good luck
