See you are missing my argument entirely. It is ignorant to say that the government can make what ever laws they want. The mentality of "They made it against the law so just don't do it," is the wrong attitude. We should have have the ability to decide which laws/changes to laws have any validity. Most of these fines do not. They fall under "cruel and unusual punishment." It is unreasonable and I won't stand for it. This is the type of fine I would expect for a repeat offender but not for the first time. Someone like myself with a perfect record has a lapse of judgment and forgets to signal. Cop give said person a ticket and the judge convicts. Now this person with a perfect record has just been robbed of over $1100 dollars for a mistake. Maybe the judge would be nice enough to waive the normal fine or court cost. That still leave the other $1050 to deal with. I just think the people making motoring laws are morons. I see cops speeding 70+ without chasing someone, I have had cops ride my ass with their high beams on trying to get me to speed, and I don't think I have ever seen a cop use a turn signal. I over heard a cop the other day while I was at lunch. "I won't ticket doctors, nurses or other cops!" Why? The only difference is their uniform. The uniform I rarely respect anymore. We need to start training more detectives and less traffic cops. Keep people safe, not afraid.

BTW, mocking me is a true sign of maturity....

The issue I have with this is simple. If you have that many points on your license, it should have been taken away a long time ago. BUT, if you do still have it you have already been fined and/or punished in some other way. Your debt to society has been paid. What would you say if you were convicted of a crime and sent to jail. You get out of jail and 5 years later they say you have to pay 10,000 dollars plus another $1,000 for every year you were in jail.

Your debt to society had too already been paid. It is unethical to punish you again for a past crime. There is no argument to be made on this. It is just WRONG!!!

And just because you get pulled over you get a fine nowadays? When did that law go into affect?

That is irrelevant. The fact that such laws are placed is ridiculous. I was just pointing out a possible scenario. If we knew all the instances that may or may not land us a ticket then that would be great, wouldn't you say?

You can get -8 points with two tickets. I don't think that calls for jail time...

Fines yes, jail no. It isn't like our jails are way overcrowded as it is.

I'm willing to bet the number of convictions for a FELONY failure to give proper signal is either a single digit number or 0.

I'm willing to bet you'll have a tough time finding many cases of FELONY traffic violations that aren't tied to manslaughter, in which case you've got bigger problems.

EDIT - Let me amend this. DUI charges (3rd offense is a felony). If you are on your 3rd DUI, you should be hit with maximum fines and penalties.

If we carry the attitude that we deserve to pay the fine for our wrong doing then I am sure no one would have a problem with me saying that law enforcement officials including judges, etc. should be sentenced to at least double the penalty for traffic violation. Cruisers exceeding the speed limit on the road should always use their lights so that people like me don't think they are just speeding for the hell of it. The amount of times I have seen cops running red lights, passing without signaling and speeding is really annoying.

I'm not missing your arguement at all, you just don't like the easy answer to to the problem you have with these particular fines. We, being the general public, should not have the right to make or change whatever laws we want. Do you realize the amount of morons in the general public? With your reasoning, it'll be a okay to run meth labs in school gyms and DUI's would just be a momentary lapse of judgement.

Last time I checked, I'm pretty sure the gov't can make whatever laws they want if enough support votes for them. If you want to be as smart as you portray yourself to be, you would understand this world is not fair and it never will be. Certain people will have the upperhand and certain rules will never apply to certain individuals. It's part of life. You can accept it and get over it, or harbor these bitter feelings about it and be whatever you are.

And like I said earlier:

Answer that. You idiots want to keep bringing this stupid arguement up, tell me how many times that law has bitten you or anyone else you know in the ass.

BTW, I could give two shits less. Suck my dick Mr. Maturity.

With these new fines I am not worried about felony counts, I am worried about the outrageous misdemeanor charges.

It's irrelevant because it makes your arguement invalid. Now STFU.

You making bullshit scernarios is irrelevant, as proved my by point.
