Yes I'll be there, I'm also bringing a buddy with a GTS. Can't wait, I've been advised by an instructor I talk to to stay on street tires for my first event so I guess I'll be the "slow guy". Oh well.

Yes... please run on street tires for at least 5 events maybe more. Track tires will make your car faster, they won't make you a better drive. Errors at higher speeds w/o the skill to recognize them and correct and catch them result in larger crashes. Street tires talk to you... track tires don't. I've been doing track events in various forms for going on 6 years now and only moved to dot-Rs in the end of '05.

You're not there to race... you're not there to show off... just go and learn. The Z06 is a very very very capable car that is rewarding to drive.

Just make sure your brake fluid is fresh and you have at least 1/2 pad life. Go get a spare set of front rotors from NAPA just in-case you crack one, but I don't think I've ever seen that happen w/ stock pads, only race pads.

^^ well said. Please stay on street tires until you really log some significant time on the track. I didn't start running DOT R compounds until after 3 years worth of track time.

I should be at the Sept. Mazdadrivers event; signed up, just need to send in the cash (and replace my SA 95 helmet )

Full course is crippling for my Miata. Last time I ran full, I was ready to sell the car when I got home. I need to stick to North, South, or Grand. I can deal with the front straight, but on the back straight I might as well assume that I am in a parade because my arm is out the window waving the whole way.

Maybe next year my little yellow chick car will be able to hang. We'll see!
