My registration is coming to an end here in NoVA but fortunately for me, im moving to Norfolk in a few weeks. I'd like to take advantage of the no emissions testing down there so I plan on registering my car at my new place. My first obstacle is how do i show the DMV that I live in a house in Norfolk rather than somewhere in northern Virginia like all my legal documents say?

Also my car is registered under my mother's name as of now. Does this mean i have to register it to my name now or can i still some how keep it under my mothers name (insurance purposes)?

well first off all you need to register at a new address is your lease agreement or a utility bill with your name and address on it thats in norfolk. second off if it is in your moms name u might need to to register it down here. is the title in her name? if it is then she will have to. if its in your name then u have to. usally the way it works. insurance on the car doesnt have to be proven but u better have it on the car or they will send you a nice letter in the mail and give u 30 days or get your license suspended along with the registration. need any other info go to www.dmvnow.com
