Pay $0.50 per ad in the For Sale section for parts, $1 per car, Patrons (ie: site membership) post free.

 

i have to agree with this. so many people use the classifieds section on this site, they make a killing using it! why shouldint the site get a piece of that action?

Not to kill your fire but a lot of other car forums on the web do not require money to post classifieds.

A lot of sites have sponsors and ads running through their site. Upping the pay for a membership may detour people from becoming a member.

The best way to add funds is forum merchandise and advertisement. Have specials like become a member an get a free decal, I dunno but those are things I would look into.

Also these Official VaDriven meets with cookouts or other events, why not charge $5 to eat???

Much of the site traffic (users + search queries) comes from the classifieds, but that area has the *least* amount of patron members posting. Goal is to have the users who use the site to freeload and offload their junk to help pay for hardware and bandwidth improvements that are required because of their usage.

This site already has sponsors and ads. DragVa stickers were made awhile ago, but many patrons (like myself) have no stickers at all on their vehicles.

Charging a fee for cookouts and other events would deter participation, not the intended effect.
