I go to court on the 25th for plate light out and loud exhaust, When the cop pulled me and gave me the 2 tickets he gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him when I fixed them and he would take care of it in court. so him stopping me was pointless, he could have easily just gave me a warning

I'm not saying officers don't harass people. I'm just saying the law is the law, and if you illegally modify something, you're probably lucky more officers are lazy or lenient. It could be worse.
Agreed!

Hey, I actually thing you may have stumbled on to something here! You said, "you're probably lucky more officers are lazy..." maybe the lazy ones give these stupid tickets cause they cannot catch the real criminals!

He would have had to pull you over to give you a warning.. if you want to get technical

I know what you mean though

No, that's why they should rely on state inspectors to do it.

Why go through all of that? It's easier just to say it's illegal to modify your ride height or exhaust period. Then they don't have to inspect a thing.

That's fine with me - get rid of inspections all together and hand out improper equipment tickets, I just don't see the point of doing both.

Fortunately the only thing I have on my car that's illegal is exhaust. If I ever get hassled for it, I'll take an hour, bolt the stock shit back on, and sell it for $700

I think it's easier for them to not let inspectors do things like that because most shops don't do a full inspection anyway... Most of the time it's "make sure the lights work, honk the horn, hit the signals, here's your sticker!"
