jw if you could replace them withought removing the head? could you take off the valve cover and put air in the cylinder, compress the spring and put in the keepers?

i dont see how it would be possible to break a keeper and not drop a valve, i mean i guess it would be poosible MAYBE, but how do you know you broke the keeper?

im just trying to understand the situation.
you broke the keeper while the motor was running?
and then you decided hey im gonna rebuilt this thing and when you took it apart there was a keeper broke in half sitting in the bottom of the head, that just happen to stay there and not go down the oil return holes?
