So i get in my truck today after work and it starts fine, i look at the gauges and the battery gauge is down almost all the way. I drive it all the way home, only like 7 miles, and as soon as i cut it off i try to restart it and it wont stat. I just replaced the altenator like 2 months ago and the battery is only a few months old too. I let the truck sit for a couple of hours and i go out and it starts, it has trouble but it does start and the battey gauge is just a little over dead. Im pretty sure it is either the battery or altenator. Any ideas/suggestions?
Though it could be that your battery just isn't holding a charge. Id' say you're best bet would be to take your battery and have it tested. At least that way you're not taking out your alt for no damn reason. lol
do the old fashion trick...wit the car runnin...take the neg off the battery...car still runs alt is good...
ima go try that now, and i got the altenator at autozone, but the wife got the battery from firestone or something like that.brb im gonna go try that trick
I don't know if your truck as a fuse for the alternator. But on my 98' prelude I had a fuse that went out. It caused the alternator to not charge my battery.
