300zx: deal or no deal?
The reason injectors fail 90-94 style injectors take a shit because of the ethonal. A must upgrade is 95-96 style. I went to nismo 740cc injectors, upgraded fuel rails and a harness just so i wouldnt have that problem because it seemed every 100 miles i was having a injector fail and i was tired of it. So i broke down and upgraded.
EDIT: old timers are the ones that spread these rumors because back in the day Ethanol really did cause injector problems because it was so unrefined. plus other factors but bottom line is i strongly feel it is wrong information and not looking for a debate.

Well, id suggest you search because ina z32 ethanol overworks the injectors which burns out the coils (causing high resistance reading...failed injector) Whats funny is that in all of the years ive owned z's the injectors NEVER failed untill ethanol was in the gas.
if fuel consumption has not changed then how can you overwork the injectors. i can on;y assume you are referring to the duty cycle but there is no reason for it to increase if fuel demand stayed where its at. flow characteristics didnt change either. and yet again if your theory was correct every injector on the market would shit on itself.

exactly, they failed because YOU overworked them by turning up the boost, not the ethanol. duty cycle would obviously stay the same if you didn't. no?injectors are junk to begin with last thing they need is more work.
Ok to the original poster,
The 1990 Z32 NA is not a bad car, just ALOT of little issues in the early years. Look to see if the recalls had been done on it. There were a few on that year. I cant remember them all. You can easily research them online. Next test drive it. The NA should feel quick with a REAL flat power curve, easy to control no unussual noises. Check the braking, and the acceleration. If you hear a thumping noise on acceleration it needs about 400 dollars worth of work and is a easy fix. But if you hear all sorts of bad noises run away and dont look back.
My final question for you is do you know how to work on cars? If so think again with the Z32. Get a lift or a good lowprofile jack and jackstands, cause its cheaper to do the work yourself then to take it somewhere. But there are some good Z32 people in the Hampton Roads area. Todd over at Tidewater Z, he is pretty good. Then there is George at Pomoco Nissan, IF George is still working there. He knows everything about the Z32.
Price range for a non-turbo 1990 with more than 150k miles I would go around 4-6K. But if you can talk him down do it. Average maintance cost of a NA Z32 will be around 60 dollars a month (not including gas). The Z32 is one thing has one major thing going for it that most imports of those years dont have, and thats collector value. They are still a cult favorite import car. And its also one of the last best of the TRUE Nissan Z cars.
Dont expect the Z32 NA to be a 1/4 mile car its not built for that. Its as fast as a mildly modified 2004 Sentra SE-R. Now the good news is you can do a VG30DETT swap for pretty cheap and you can MAKE it fast. But is the joy of driving that you will learn the most with the Z32. All Zs, yes even the new frog Z33, gives you the joy of driving feeling.

as far as the z. ive owned two and loved one. both nickeled and dimed me. parts arent cheap and they are very cramped to work on. i wouldnt pay more than 3500 for a very nice 93+ na. and no more than 9000 for a NICE low mile twin turbo.
2500 for this vehicle. TOPS. if he thinks it is gold... why is he selling it.
after 100k they start to fall apart at once i noticed.. wheel bearings, d/s center bearing, bushings, and if its turbo HICAS usually screws up.
