class 1 mis to have, minor felony to use for certain things, buying alcohol i dont believe is one, only to buy a firearm. Anywho, if i got caught with one i sure as fuck wouldn't go on a public forum and let the whole damn world know i did, and then get mad when they call me out for being dumb.

Sure it does, your point regarding the degree of the crime is a complete fallacy--I'm not suggesting he should be prosecuted for selling fake IDs. I'm saying that the possession of the ID is illegal because persons possess them for 1 of 2 reasons-to either use it, or to get it to someone else to use. This is why possession is illegal, and considering it's his face on it, I would assume he was intending to use it rather than sell/give it to someone else. He wouldn't be carrying it around if he had absolutely no intentions of doing anything with it.

With the given circumstances, and with the fact that his friend supposedly gave it to him as a birthday gift, he should be able to pull some strings. I really don't think it's as big of a deal as people have made it out to be, money and lawyers fix a lot of things in this day and age. Possession of a Fake ID would be an easier case to handle than possession of drugs, trust me.
