There is a simple way to not blind everyone you pass if you do have hids in a non projector lense. Several cars that don't run projectors do this: Take a small inch x inch and a half piece of sheet metal ( bend it in a concave shape) and apoxy it to the plastic part of the hid so that the beam of light reflects off the top and down making a line as normal hids do. Certain lexus models have it this way, my friends vw has it set up that way and it works great.
