sounds like a good idea to me. you should just make sure you have enough market for it. i mean, how many ppl would just use the dyno to see what #'s they can put out and not for tuning? also, if you get into selling aftermarket products, keep in mind you'll get a lot of ricers coming your way. you should talk to justin woo about that (used to run sevensix auto in cburg). if you were to setup in roanoke, it would give me another reason to go there, but i honestly don't know how much more i would go to roanoke. like wagz mentioned, most ppl don't go there that much. so that might be something to think about. of course, if you know of a lot of ppl that from the roanoke/salem area that woudl go, that's great. i'm simply repeating what wagz was saying about ppl hating driving to roanoke.

I don't have any real numbers, but I'd assume there is more of a market in the Roanoke/Salem area than there would be here. Roanoke/Salem area has several car hang outs, nearby tracks, and is a bigger area in general. Here there are relatively few people who would actually buy something from a shop or get it installed there. Also you'd have to consider costs, taxes, other stuff, which may or may not be cheaper out of the area.

Good luck either way!

as for the setup, it is a mustang AWD, yes you can do FWD/RWD, plus, what i love about it...is its ability unlike the dynapack, to do a full load alaunch, with capabilitiesw of doing measured distances. such as a virtual QM time.
As some of you may know, i already do "custom" to what i can with what i got alignments, and i try to do what i can, when i can. it may have to be jsut a start of alignment and install shop...or, say FUCK IT and go so far in to debt that it aint even funny., just to get this going. i am now 22, and i have the drive to get this going...i WANT IT!! if it dont work....well....thats not an option! for me at least.

as for the finances...i am still workin on that. i have one person that is interested, and if anyone else is wanting to be a investor, please PM me. any help is greatly appriciated.

yeah mustang dynos are way more versitle and realistic with their numbers.

but for those ego freaks and dyno queens...a mustang dyno is a no no. they average about 20-30 hp less than all the other dynopacks and dynodynamics dyno's. id personally rather have a real number than even if its a little bit lower.

yea, there's definitely more of a market in roanoke/salem, no doubt about it. i just meant for us bburg/cburg ppl, it's not a place we'd be every day or whatever. but either way, i think it'd be great. hope everything works out for ya, joey!

speaking of tracks, there will be a nearby track hopefully next year, hehe.

joey if u want my previous business plan/outline let me know. We basically determined you really couldnt open a decent shop (if you're selling performance parts and doing small mechanical installs like oil, gauges, electronics, tbelts, etc) for less than around 100k in start up money (meaning for inventory, shop, equipment [didnt include dyno], laborers, rent, bills, etc. Plus you have to keep in mind that you will lose money for the first few months so you have to have capital in reserve to cover you monthly "nut" if your business isnt generating enough to cover it.
I had previously had commitments of $100k in cash and another $100k in cash equivilents (website design, building, equipment) plus i was to put in $20k in cash and work it full time....which of course means a minimum of 12hour days for probably the first year at least. We were getting ready to draw up the contract and 1 of the 2 main investors backed out (lets just say the guy owns some dealerships around here) for unknown reasons.

I really didnt want to open in sal/roa because i thought i could do better w/ the college town and that more people from Roa would drive down here for a good shop vs more people from here driving to roa. This was a big issue for the investor who backed out cuz he had a few locations in sal/roa he could use w/o it costing him additional money. And yes, dealing w/ ricers will be a huge part of your business and its something you'll have to swallow your pride on. I realized they would probably be the "bread and butter" of the business and you'll have to treat them as such. But at the same time you can also be the one how "educates"them of their wrong doings

Hit me up if you want my input and help, the other trick to think about is you need some MAJOR connections to get good deep discounted prices for performance parts. Companies like Keystone, Autofx, Nopi, etc all require either some kind of past experience or a very large up front account.

Best of luck in what you choose bro - u know i wish you well, i decided after the 1 guy backed out that i really didnt want to get booged down 12+hrs a day on something that would probably take me a minimum of 3yrs to establish and make potentially much less than i do now.

(but dont forget i can also drive some unreal sales to an online shop....that was going to be 1 of the secrets of our $ for my idea).

thanks wagz..i already have some suppliers, and am working on getting more. the main drawback right now is that the ones i am still trying to get, require a retail location, land line phone #, business hours during the day, not a mobile deal like i am doing....and many other issues. i am doing not just little things....we are talking FULL auto service if needed to pay the bills...etc. the alignments should be a good deal of business, they are here. if you have a DAMN good align tech...which, i tink i may know one....you can make some good money. \
and i know its gonna be full long dayus..buyt lets face it....i already do that!!! ask some kids around here, and more importantly, my incredibly supportive girlfriend....sorry babe, but thanks for bein there for me even though i am not around alot. so, i am used to long hours...believe me!!!

the website for my company should be up in a month or so, still working on that. i already have buisiness liscenses, and tax id #'s....i hve been a dealer for Worldone Performance for three months now...and Gruppe-s just came online this week. my buy-ins are getting worked on. i am trying to do that with my own money, as time allows. i already have shelled out over 15k into starting this...for equipment, liscensing, web design, etc. friends have been helping a lot, and i do appriciate them, ALOT!!!

now, i need to get the initial proposals done, might have to wait for a year on the dyno, but an align machine is a MUST! like i said....if need be, general auto repair can be done....i just dont wanna have to. i looooove performance, as many of you may know...and am just beginning to get tired of the "everyday" customer/car. just so many Volvo's you can work on.....hehehe

anyway....i must stop my ramblings and get back to work...my real job right now....but, i would like any help you can give, Wagz. THANKS MAN!!! BTW....get the hoe here...i need to try to get that align better for ya.....best i can.

JOEY

ps...any one that wants to stop by and see me about this....you know where i work! gonna be at Cosmos shop tonight, workin on the graphics for the wagon...........hehehehehhe
