I was quoted the same on a Timing Belt / Water Pump from Hall. Never ended up looking into a Valve Adjustment though. Purchased mine (2001) at 14k miles, then sold it at 26k miles. The idle was fine and ticking wasn't anything out of the ordinary.
We did quite a bit of maintenance to it as we sold it though... cooling system flush, brake system flush, and transmission fluid flush.
yea, but I plan not to get it done there. There's a mech in D.C. who has been working on the NSX for a long time. Heard he opened his own shop, so I might plan to take it there.
When you say "we," as in you and your buddies did it at home, or you got it serviced somewhere else?
i saw the DIY on the tranny flush, it looks very tedious.

I never really calculated my exact mpg, but it feels good when you romp on the gas pedal and the gas needle barely moves at all

Actually, now that I think of it we didn't do the cooling system - only the transmission, oil, and put it back to stock. I had Dave (Grease Monkey) do all the work, as I didn't have time to before the car was scheduled to be delivered to new owner.
The new owner had a local (to him) shop do the Brake Fluid. He's located in Raleigh. I may get that name for the DC guy from you if I could. My old NSX needs a timing belt later this year, so I can drop the new owner a recommendation.
