Eclipse grinds past 3500 in 2nd gear
Hi i have a 2002 eclipse gs. over all the car is nice and clean and runs great except for one problem. When I'm going from 1st to second gear, if i am over 3500 and throw into second it sounds like it is grinding, even though i know it isn't. it makes the grinding sound though so i know something definitely isn't right. i am thinking that it is the 2nd gear synchro. If anyone can help me pinpoint the problem i would appreciate it

yeah thats entirely too common on dsms. mostly on the turbo models but im sure its possible on the n/a models too. either youre not letting the clutch out all the way when you shift or your synchros are shot

Re: Eclipse grinds past 3500 in 2nd gear
I'm letting out the clutch all of the way when i shift so i agree that it is most likely the synchro for second gear, i am going to change my transmission fluid and put in some synthetic fluid to quiet it for now and i guess i am going to be shifting from 1st to 3rd until i get the money to fix it. any ideas on the cost for just replacing all of the syncs?
