I need a Lawyer.
I'm pretty sure if this is your first offense you can ask the judge to defer judgment for 90days while you remain on probation with full license privileges. All you would have to do would be to not break the law for 90 days and take the 8 hour class. I'm sure that's what any lawyer would do for you. How old are you again?
Mistake i go that fast down 664 all the time.
anyway do you have stock tires and rims on the car, is it lowered.
anything after market on the suspension at all.
if so then you can get it done. if you dont my suggestion would be find someone with
some rims slap them on there real quik(bigger rims) and go get the calibration thing done.
just my 0.2 cents

Im 20. and that is what id like since this is my first real crime ever (i had a little speeding ticket before, but THIS one is considered a crime). I dont know i think im going to get a lawyer anyways, i just want to do as much as i can to get out of this.
and i could put taller tires on my car but i dont want to lie in court, besides how far off would my speedo have to be in order for them to throw it out?

Another option is to try your luck without a lawyer the first time around, and if the turn out is bad you could appeal the case (within ten days) and get a lawyer for the appeal. Court cost will be more since it will be moved from district court to circuit but generally speaking circuit courts are usually easier on traffic cases. Remember those judges usually see real crimes and look at traffic as well... thats not so bad. Getting a calibration thats off helps alot as well as taking the drivers improvement course, its +5 points if taken on your own without any court telling you it must be completed. Again this is an option and will not always work, and I can’t say I have any experience in the Hampton area. Id suggest the same as some previous members, find out who the judge will be and possibly a lawyer who has dealt with him in the past. Traffic court is all about who and what you know, at the end of the day its a money game. If you do find a lawyer that you like you can ask him to speak with the cop before the case goes to court some of them will actually request or push for it to be reduced because of the situation or how cooperative you were with them.
Really? Damn, I need to start driving the speed limit in Chesapeake now then. That guy was awesome.
To the OP, DO NOT go to a driver improvement course before court. Last time I was in court someone did that, the judge said, "Well, you've already done that so I can't recommend it."
Give the judge the option of sending you there.

I went without a lawyer for my first (and hopefully only) reckless ticket (81/65)all I got was driving class, 6 months probation, and court costs and it got dropped
Patrick Kelley is the best. Period. he got me completely out of a reckless ticket, 92 in a 65, with 2 offenses on my record beforehand. All I had was loss of license for a month and did some community service beforehand. Didn't go on my record or anything. He used to be a commonwealth attorney so he knows how to deal with them and work the system
