Battle FC, July 19th, Fredericksburg (MMA)
Should be some great fights at this event, 15 scheduled bouts including 2 title fights. 4 fighters from the gym i train at (www.goldmedalgrappling.com) {coughplugcough} are scheduled to go at it, one is a title fight. Also said to be there is legendary Steve Blackman (yes the one from wrestling) and some fighters from his mma school in pa. So if you can come out and watch some good ol' fashion beat downs.
It is being held at jp's sports bar in frederickburg. There are still plenty of tickets left and can still get the at the door but not recommended in case of a sell out. You can get tickets at http://www.battlefc.com/.
You can be under 21 to get in and watch the fights but you must leave after the fights are over ( it is a bar).
There will be another event in manasass on august 2nd in which we also have a couple of fighters participating in. Said to make an appearance is amir sadollah, winner of the ultimate fighter series. You can get info and tickets at http://www.operationoctagon.com/.

well if you attended you would know that there were some pretty good fights that night and 1 or 2 that could have been better. i did discover that steve blackman, the former wwe wrestler, is a fuckin coke head. the fuckstick was geekin out at the fights. he came up to one of our fighters after he fought and was trying to tell him how to do things better in the cage. the funny part is that our guy just got finished punishing his fighter in less than 1.45 in the first round (tapped him out with a rear naked choke), and he wants to give advice to our guy, justin "the butcher" hickey 145lbs, who is now 6-1? LOL!!
one of our guys, elder ramos 205lbs, didn't fight due to a cut above his eye he received during training. elder's fight was supposed to be a title fight as well, they are going to reschedule that fight.
our third fighter josh taylor at 155lbs didn't fair so well, he received a cut in the fight that caused the doc to stop the fight. it was pretty bad, he ended up getting 8 stiches to close it. he never stopped fighting though, the ref stopped it in the 2nd round and called in the doc. oh well, next time i guess.
our boy kris "savage" mccray won the title at the 185lbs class, ko'd the guy with a right cross not even 2 minutes into the fight. kris is now 9-0 and will be turning pro in september. he will fight 1 more am. fight at operation octagon (o.o.) on august 2 where he will be defending his o.o. title (he has like 2 or 3 different ones now).
gold medal grappling will have 4 fighters participating in o.o., so we will make another good showing at that event. again, come out and enjoy some great fights. there are 17 (wow!) scheduled fights for that night. this particular event tends to sell out so you might want to try and get you tickets as early as possible for this one.

i just go a message from my boy kris and it looks as if he will not be defending his title at o.o.
this is the message i received from him... "Sorry to inform you i will not be fighting this weekend aug 2. My pro contract with total cage combat says i need 5 weeks before my fight aug 30."
damn that sucks!!! he was so looking forward to fighting on the 2nd.
