HAMPTON, VA (WAVY.com) -- Police say a woman was killed overnight in a motorcycle accident. It happened around 3 a.m. on Interstate 64 westbound at the exit ramp heading onto Interstate 664.
Police say a female driver was killed when she ran off the road and struck the guardrail. The driver flipped and was ejected.
The woman was then run over by an unknown driver who left the scene. Police say the driver was wearing an unapproved helmet.
It's unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The accident is under investigation. If you have any information, please call Sgt. Michelle Cotten, with the Virginia State Police, at 757-746-2557.
rip... but please someone tell me where in the hell do these people get "unapproved helments"?? or better yet what is a "unapproved helmet"??
If it was an unapproved helmet my guess is it was one of those ridiculous half helmets. and seeing as i dont know anyone who would ride with that kind of non-protection, all i have to say is RIP and that sucks.
Might have been one of those half-helmets... I still don't see how someone wears a "bucket" and feels safe. Lady was probably riding too fast and fixated on the guardrail. I take that ramp to go to work in the morning and it's pretty sharp after the apex. RIP
i own a towing co in hampton and have pulled about ten bikes off that off ramp in the past few years..no one died...but got fucked up...the ramp sneaks up on ya...
