It was faster than the low level ferraris around turns. Other than that it couldn't touch the vettes, vipers, or upper model ferraris/lambos in a straight line or around turns with good drivers, simply because it was underpowered...

Sure they are going with a v10, this is nothing new in the sports car world today at all. They are going to have to really venture into a territory they have never been in (production wise) to compete with "supercars" today.

Just having a v10 won't cut it.

oh god. the body looks like complete shit. i love the old nsx, but this one......just no.

 

In car and driver when it came out it did beat a 911, 348 ferrari and a zr-1 in a comparison test, but not a 911t, and the 348 wasn't exactly the fastest ferrari available. However the zr-1 was the fastest vette and did get beat, but only around the turns, it was way down powerwise.

Years following the other cars got much better and the NSX barely changed much and continued to fall behind.

I'm all for Acura stepping into the big leagues, but they have a long way to go. That's all I'm saying.

 

They had their eyes set on the 348 and they destroyed it. If they knocked out more than a few of the other big dogs that was just a bonus.

The F40 was a better performer but it didn't even have door handles. No sense in aiming for the glued-together race car if you're trying to show how to make a reliable supercar. If it weren't for the NSX, Ferrari would never be the company they are today.

The NSX never improved because Honda didn't care to improve it. They were focusing on other things. And what they focus on, they get right. That's just the way it goes.

And here they are again, focusing on a "luxury" sports car that will do it all better than everyone else. Watch what happens.

 

Yeah...I'm sure that this car will perform, better than everyone else? I seriously doubt it.

Yeah. By "everyone else" I meant their intended competition. Clearly they aren't after Bugatti.

I'm the #1 Ferrari fanboi on this site, and I hate to break it to you guys.... But Dave is right.


The supercar world would have never become what it is today if it weren't for the original NSX. Porsche is the only possible exception.


The NSX made Ferrari HAVE to better their cars. Better Ferraris meant that Lambo had to step up, etc etc. Todays exotics have to start every time you try to. They have to be liveable cars that you can comfortably drive to dinner. They need to be refined when you need it, but raw when you want it.

The NSX started all that.

 

Got ya. As I said before I know the car will perform, and I'd love to see it smoke the GTR and anything in its class, although I'm not too sure in the looks department yet, hopefully it will have a more sporty design, I'd love to see some resemblance from the old car, that car was beautiful.

 

Coming out two years later and with a higher price tag, I would hope so.
