All motor build
Na bud I was at work. There too much to quote So ill just type
Have you ever driven a 200whp N/A honda? Or any other car with a very light chasis and a decent amount of power?
My car hardly ever spun,of course I was only at 210-220 WHP.
Ill still say DSM's are shitty, maybe not in the right hands but none the less. If a K series motor could mount to the D series trans and transfer case in a EF hatch or wagon I wouldn't be surprised if it womped on a Eclipse with the same amount of power. Yes MUCH more aerodynamis than a Eclipse but also much lighter.

But im not going to keep arquing about it over the internet you have your opinion I have mine.

I assume you're talking about trying to mate the K series stuff to the 80s AWD honda junk? That drivetrain might as well have been made from toothpicks, have you ever actually looked at one? I don't think even regular D series stuff would be able to hold the torque of the K series. If you think one of those rolling shoeboxes is more aerodynamic than an eclipse, you need to get your eyes checked. That's like comparing a bullet to a pair of dice in the aerodynamics department.
I think you need to face the fact that you're a high schooler cleaning cars for a living and have a lot to learn and stop trying to argue with people who have been doing this for 10 years.

Next to liking sex.
i love all this talk about what platforms faster..... not all races are in straight lines my eclipse driving friend. i don't remember seeing him say he wanted a "drag" motor.
and mitsu's handle like a bag of ass.

Damn why all the hate in here? This is way off subject.
I wanna see that dsm vs civic. People talk about civic breakage. It's all in how the build goes. I have had my fair share of breaks with builds. I also know that my buddy has had his fair share of breaks in that eclipse of his. It's really the luck of the draw when it comes to performance parts.

Luck of the draw is only a small part. Most of it is properly setting up a vehicle, and strength of parts. Parts strength and design being able to withstand power is where hondas have their major flaws.
The biggest failure of this thread is newbs making assumptions and trying to argue with people who have been doing this shit for 10 years. You guys make no arguements I haven't seen a million times before. When you have been in racing for 10 years you see how things really go even with properly built cars vs properly built cars, you see the trends in breakage.
I was running 11s on a stock bottom end 4 cyl and street tires with a full interior street car when most of you guys were in middle school. 6 years later that motor is still un-opened and in another car still running 11s and still has OEM spec compression.
roll that around a bit and find an arguement I haven't heard before.
Really, this is a pretty dumb arguement, because 99% of imports and sport compacts are severely unreliable with a decent amount of power anyways. DSMs just happen to be some of the more reliable power makers. Above all else, the owner of the car usually is the ultimate determination of a car's reliability though. Some people it doesn't matter what they own, they will break it through stupidity.

This is the original poster, and ive been gone for a few days (busy with school) and came back to read this. Honestly, very very funny. The arguments were good, and ill keep to myself who i think won.
I do appreciate the help that i did get from people on here. It is gonna help with my build. I think i should have specified it being a dd and having to get me from va beach to bum fuck no where VA (Longwood) and probably MD and NC too.
In my opinion, i appreciate the aspects of everything from Honda, to Mitsubishi, to Chevy, pretty much everything out there save for Kia's, and Geo metro's. Just my opinion. But keep up the talk, this is actually quite entertaining. Its a good way to get away from studying and Gears 2.

The thing the people need to realize is that even if the car is built right it can and will break with enough time. Look at the high HP DSM's, Honda/Acura's, SRT's, Colbolt's, ect that actually run on the 1320 break parts, when they are pushed to their limits.
If Honda thought that their cars would be used for racing I think that they would have tried to make the parts like the axels handle more abuse. It goes the same way with the DSM's I know that some of the parts a made a little better but you also have an aftermarket to correct the flaws in the drive line just like Honda or Acura's do.
Braking parts is apart of the game and it also helps you learn from it.
This is a question not a bash. The DSM guys what is the most power that you have made on OEM gears? I have cryo treated gears in my race car but other than that they are OEM.

Highest I can think of that I know the exact number of in a DSM on OEM 5 speed gears is 1017whp. I am pretty certain Shepherd made more, however I don't have any solid data to back that up.
I know AMS is making 1100+ in their Evo on stock gears as well. The rear end does not really have a solid limit, I only know of 2 ever broken due to power, one in the 1000whp range and one in the 1200whp range. OEM front axles hold pretty much anything and OEM the rear "bars" become iffy around 700whp, however at this point suspension and tire will go a long ways in preservation of parts.
