VW exhaust question

ok so my stock exhaust is 2.25 inches, i am getting a cat back exhaust that is 2.5 inches, my question is, would it bolt up to my stock down pipe or not?

If it's made for your car then it should. It probably starts @ 2.25 at the flange then opens to 2.5 the rest of the way.
