hi guys/galss i got a 97 civic. i was wonderin if i had vtec. cuz i havent felt it...at all. i know its got a d16 and im not sure if it has vtec. i google it and it said i did. how can i make it stronger. and kick in around 5k rpm. thanks.

2... its a single cam (unless its an A1) .... you wont feel it.

if you look at your valve cover, it should say VTEC right there
and if you want it to have more of a kick, mix some gas in with your oil next time you change it

i think y7 and it doesnt say vtec i checked. and im not dumb. mixin gas, why dont you do it. run some pickle juice through you injectors.

 

I um.. wow. Ok, so VTEC is either on or off. You can't make it stronger. It's just two sets of cam lobes, so if you want more power you need to do the same mods as any other engine. If you want to change where it engages, you need to use a VTEC controller or get an OBD1 ECU that is able to be chipped and tuned.

Go forth and Google how VTEC works...
