Brand new brakes screeching?
Hey guys,
I recently had my rear brakes on a 99 cherokee replaced, and they have been consistently squeeking when i brake at low speeds. I had thought they just needed to be broken in at first, but it's been over a month and the noise really irritates me.
Any insight?
also, sorry if this is a noob question.
thanks.

Re: Brand new brakes screeching?
If you went to Autozone or Advance and bought the cheapest pads you could, that's why they squeak. Semi-metallics/organics squeak a shit ton.
Get some Ceramic pads, but try some "DISC BRAKE QUIET" from the Auto parts store. Read the directions before using it though.

Re: Brand new brakes screeching?
you need to put that anti-vibration stuff on the back of the pads before they are installed. Its like a dollar for a small pack. Always apply and let sit for 10 min to harden up before installing pads

Re: Brand new brakes screeching?
whoever put them on forgot to grease them and thats why they squeak. i am a tech and everytime brakes are changed they need to be greased on the back side of the pad. the back side of the pad is rubbing on the caliper.
