I've called a couple scrap yards, called one aluminum pipe and sheet place but no one seems to carry 7075-T6 or 6061-T6 in small batches.


I've never had to look for raw materials like this, are scrap yards really the best bet? I need a single plate 32"x12" in 1/4" to 3/8" to give my chassis a stiffy.

There were a lot of yards that were closed when I got around to calling. One guy said he sees 6061 scraps once a week or so and would call when/if he saw something that would work.

Anyone have a good supply for small amounts of Al?

Try Tull Metals in Richmond if you can't find anything else. We used to get a lot of titanium and aluminum from them at the place I worked a few years ago, and they delivered it to us. You probably can't get the delivery, but their supply and pricing are both good.

definitely. BUT i didn't search for 'metal' initially. Just didn't think it was going to be that easy.

Looked for aluminum sheet, pipe, scrap metal, marine supply, etc.

Anyway, i think i've found some places and hopefully it'll be about $40-50 bucks for the 6061 like others have found.

What are you planning on doing with it specifically, just bolting it onto some local part of your chassis?

Yeah, replacing the thin tunnel brace that came stock.

The Kappas (a lot of roadsters for that matter) are notorious for body flex and while that's great in keeping the car facing forward for soccer moms, I'd prefer the car to rotate easier.


Also means I can dial back in some front camber a bit.

you can try JR INTERPRISE, they are located inside sims metal management, you can get a piece of aluminum diamond plate size 4 by 8 for like $120, they also have other type of pieces, i don't have there number, but i work at sims, that's how i know, but i can get it by monday afternoon
