Default The Breakdown: 96' civic cx with a usdm b16a2 swap.

Breakdown:

1996 Honda Civic Cx with a stock d16y7.(sold everything but the harness)

Want to put a 99' B16a2 swap into the Civic.

I have the B16a2 motor, Harness, Ecu, Axles, Shift Linkage.

The B16a2 is already into the car, I just want to know what needs to be done harness/ecu wise to have this motor running with working vtec and throwing no codes. I have now heard many thing from all different kind of people and do not know whose right or wrong, Im a obd0 Crx guy. I want this done right the first time. Let me see your input.

-No, i do not want to buy a obd2b to obd1 conversion harness and a obd1 ecu and chip it to b16 specs, i want to run the B16a2 ecu it came with.

-i heard i have to buy a obd2b to obd2a conversion harness, take apart the b16a2 harness and y7 harness(vtec, etc) and make one harness together, then run the b16a2 ecu and everything will be fine and the dash harness will work.

-i heard that just using everything from the b16a2(harness,ecu) and everything will work fine and i do not need the obd2b to obd2a conversion harness.

u cant use the b16 harness (obd2b) your car is obd2a, didnt u pm me about this awhile ago? obd2a harness has a plug for the ecu inside the car, obd2b has all the plugs on the harness itself.

So how about this, I want to run the b16a2 harness and b16a2 ecu. How do I go about doing this in the car.

YOU CAN NOT DO IT. Ramey just told you this. If you use the b16a2 harness you will not have a majority of the electrical shit in your car, like tach, speedo, and shit.

Do it the right way and buy a conversion harness.

No you need the harness that came with your car. obd2b to obd2a jumper harness is what you need to use the si ecu. You can find a 96-98 ex motor harness and you won't have to wire up vtec. You cannot use the motor harness that came with the 99-00 si motor, in your car.

Frank.

You need the Y7 harness. You have to repin the IAC for a two wire, run vtec wiring and then get a obd2a ecu. To be perfectly honest, even though your hard headed. Convert to obd-1, makes shit a lot easier and simpler.

Id look for the 96-98 ex harness it will make everything easier and cleanier. especially because the stupid design of the Y7 manifold puts some plugs in dumb places and the Y7 has that 3 bar iacv while the b16 has a 2 wire.
