I work for a small owner operated gas station and we get our gas from a fairly small private supplier . Every once and a while i'll talk to the driver and ask him where he filled up you'd be surprised what he say . One day it'll be exxone's tanks the next week it would be shell . Now they got there own refilling station they get there fuel straight from the pipe line . We have customers say they get better gas mileage when they fill up at our station compared to 7-11 shell Exxon . We also add our own additives in when we get gas and the water level in out tanks ( yes all tanks have some water in them ask the EPA guy that did our inspection ) is a hell of a lot less then the major brands . We are a small low volume station .

But like some others have said gas is gas its the additives thats added at the large storage places that effect the gas mileage as well as the water content of the fuel. My .02 cents

what station and where?

if gas is rated at 87 octane, isnt there a plus or minus 2 or 3 octane points?

I use Shell V-Power in the MS3, usually Mobil 87-93 in the Miata.

Not sure if some in here are confusing octane with gasoline brand.
I'm a little south. There is a significant difference here. It's a matter of whether they're ordering 10% blend Ethanol (not required) or 100% gasoline. I can tell you from experience, that 100% gas makes for good stuff! Better economy, better power...
BTW, in my town, that means you buy BP.

I honestly feel from experience, that Shell, BP, Texaco, and Exxon have good additive packages, and long term performance differences between them and some others are rather noticeable. One tank... Unless you're dealing with WaWa 91, and in some places, 85 or 86 for regular, then it's not much difference really. I do feel that some of the additive packages are superior to others though, in terms of knock.

Mr Gas Analyst, what is the RON and MON for the average BP in the 757? How about Shell? Are the additives affecting those numbers?

i just saw a valley petroleum truck pulling out of a Exxon.

two new question,

where the hell does each different brand of gas come from?

or

or is the a shipping company for gas like UPS or Fedx?

i grew up in Okllahoma, the sunco refinery was in my home town, they had two oil tanks blow up about 6 years ago, damn that was cool, but anyway, they had their own gas trucks. so did Quiktrip, own refinery and trucks.

We did a lot of fuel testing back when I was racing snowmobiles. Back then, the best gas BY FAR was Amoco (BP now). That was 13+ years ago though, so things may have changed.
