turbo civic waste gate spring psi??
i bought a wastegate of of a freind that was originally purchased on ebay..i was told that the psi on the spring is determind by the color..i was wondering if this is ture. i took the spring out and its all black , i went online and the only black spring i found was rated at 3.63 psi . is this correct .

I think the spring color is only consistant for the same brand, or family of brands. There isn't any standard that relates wastegate spring color to spring rate as far as I know.
If you have a scale that measures fairly small divisions, you can compress the spring and calculate the spring rate using the weight and the spring deflection.
force = spring rate X deflection

You need to find out the brand of the wastegate. Then find the website for that brand. Tial WG springs are color coded.... I'm sure other brands are the color coded as well... but there is no such thing as a standard WG spring color code. The manufacturer assigns specific color for specific spring rates.
