d16y8 vtec in my dx civic
i just put a y8 in my eg dx. seeing as the dx is not vtec from the factory, the factory dx engine harness has no vtec wires, and neither does the harness running from the ecu to the engine harness. i have a p28 in the ciar, and i have the wires ran for vtec and i know exactly where they plug on the ecu. but i do not know how to connect them to the ecu to make it work seeing as there has been no previous wires in the slots on the connector. does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? let me know asap please! thats all the check engine is calling for is the vtec components!!!

You need to get a few crimp pins for that connector, and then you need to crimp them on the wires. Then insert the crimp pins into the connector shell. You can find someone with the right tools to do this for you, it's a very easy and fast job but without the right type crimpers you're going to do a horrible job.
You could also get a few wires from another OBD1 ECU harness and spice a few inches with the OEM crimp pin onto the wires you ran.

go to the junk yard and cut off an ecu connector from the harness leaving wire to work with. De-pin a wire and insert it in you ecu connector then attatch you wire coming from the solinoid to it. It is always helpful to keep stuff like that around for situations like this.

Ask around at the local Honda shops. They will (should) have what you need and will probably do it for cheap. Else go to the junkyard or find someone with the scraps of a harness left over.
