What about a Duramax? I've heard they are actually pretty stout and mod well, but possibly don't pull as much as cummins or int. Also read that the transmissions in GM diesels are by far the best over on both of those forums, even from the dodge guys, which seem to have some cockiness over their cummins, haha..

IMO if your gonna be modding the 12v I would get an older on since you want a manuallike a 97+ since the P pump will have less limitations.

www.competitiondiesel.com/
They got everything on there.
Duramax is an awesome engine to mod, but the allison's are garbage. Once they are built, you won't have anymore problems, but it'll be expensive.
Cummins rules all, but same thing with the tranny.
7.3's are hard to get alot of horsepower out of, mainly because of the HEUI injection sytem, which can only deliver so much fuel. Of course, you could go totally custom, but that also gets expensive quickly. You want inspiration, search youtube for "Double Overtime". The ONLY powerstroke in the Super Mod class for sled pulling.
You can get alot more hp out of the 6.0's, and the 5r110 auto is pretty stout. You just have to do the EGR delete and get a MASSIVE radiator, plus a couple other things I can't remember. That info is readily available on powerstroke.org though.

Good luck!

The only good part in a dodge truck is the engine made by another company. That Cummins is badass but the rest of the truck blows...

I had hear the allison transmission were great transmission... regardless I would be a little leery of an auto tranny if it hadn't been built yet...

Recently picked up a 2006 F250 with a 6.0L PSD. Thanks for some good diesel links! I'm on powerstroke.org and superdutydiesel.com and found out my SVTP login works for Coal Rollers.

Here's a quick pic...

slowrx...I have more plans than money. Right now I'm about to upgrade the stereo and get a Kenwood DNX-9140 head unit, back-up camera, and alarm with remote start (pretty much what I do right off the bat with all my trucks).

Next, I'll probably do the Banks Six Gun tuner with PDA, exhaust, and intake. Not sure about the suspension, but looking at either Icon 7" or Rize 6 or 8 inch with 22" Ion Terminators or 22" KMC Monsters with 37" Toyos or Kumho KL71's. Again, more plans than money, hehehe.
