Mine are mounted to the factory tow locations with 1/2",grade 8 bolts.
At least on many Hondas,mounting them to the front bumper support that's only secured by a couple 8mm bolts could be a bad idea if you had to actually use the hook.

That was kind of an idea I had a year ago when I wanted to paint my truck.... I was gonna paint the whole thing white and then on the front driverside corner and the passenger rear corner I was going to have some airbrush graffiti work done...
