The term "boxer" came out due to the pistons outward motion...think of two fist punching.

 

always thought it was because of how the engine look when in one piece....v6 have angled piston setup that looks like a V..inline 4 is, well, in a line...boxer is boxed shape

 

Im sure there are a few "reasons" its just not something I've ever looked into.

Rotated for subarus means its no longer a stock placement turbo. The turbo will be rotated up and out of its current spot. It helps with flow (piping isn't all bent up), the housings can be larger, ect.

After seeing the power these cars make with similar mods (sometimes less mods) done to them I decided on the 1.06.
