ok decided against b16 i want SOHC V tec...
the reason i want the SOHC is because its cheaper and im not looking to race my daily driver "beater" crx... i just want something with out 89 horse power that dosent 160,000 miles on it like my 89 hp motor has and i dont want my crx to fall on its face when u shift into 2nd gear any more... so my question is i have a 89 HF crx and i wanna do i think its called a d16 its a 1.6L SOHC v tec motor and trans in my crx... my question is what do i need for the swap and how much is this project gonna cost.?
thanks

talk to chahonda. he can get you a hook up on a d16y8. youll either need a ghetto rpm activated switch for vtec, or youll have to get a vtec ecu and have a harness made to wire it in (talk to fabrik8 about that). or you can get ahold of an si ecu and wiring harness and send it to zydine and they will reprogram it and add in the nessecary shit for vtec. shits can be quick, and theres a few different choices for motors
d16z6- 1.6L sohc vtec out of 92-95 EX and Si. 124 hp i think
d16y8- 1.6L sohc vtec out of a 96-00 EX. 127 hp i think
d16y5- 1.6L sohc vtec-E out out of a 96-00 HX. somewhere between 112-117hp i believe
d15b1- 1.5L sohc vtec out of 92-95 vx hatch. no clue on the numbers for that, but ZC4ME has one is his crx and its quick.
id say dont worry about going with a sohc vtec simply because of the wiring problems, most people never get the vtec connected anyways. just get a d16y7. they have the same bottom end as the y8, just with a different cylinder head setup. they have 105hp stock, but thats with a completely different stlye intake manifold and a horribly small exhaust manifold. pick up a crx si intake and exhaust manifold and it gives you a nice little bump just from the better flow. i had this setup in my crx before i swapped to the b16, and i put a good 4 cars on a crx si with intake header exhaust cam and cam gear (sargeek). either way man, just ask if you need any more info. hope this helps.

Re: ok decided against b16 i want SOHC V tec...
how hard is it to hook up the v tec? thats my plan... i want it all to work and i want the 127hp motor atleast... and probaly just doing intake, exhaust, maybe headers and a fuel pump and probaly a 50 NX not sure dry or wet yet... like i said its my daily driver.. i want to have a little fun with it... BUT... not race it all the time... thats what my 300zx twin turbo is for... any ways.. How hard is it to wire? and to wire up the vtec so it will work?
thanks

Single Cam power. Rock on. Make sure you get EVERYTHING you need before you do it so your not stuck ordering shit while your car sits halfway into your garage.

getting the vtec wired shouldnt be any problem at all if you have the right stuff. best suggestion would be to get ahold of fabrik8 and see how much it would be to get a harness made to run a p28 in your car. then it should all run smoothly. and yeah youd be better of with the y8. stronger motor overall. shoot me a line if you need any more info. ive done a few variations of sohc swaps into my crx, but in the end, none compare to my b16
