Here's what he hit: I'm sure he'll post carnage pics later.

Here's the other guy that went down with him (has a cracked vertebrate):

THEN.. two miles down the road, another guy with us on a 636 went down. Pretty sure his bike is totaled. Watched him do two or three somersaults and the bike cartwheel over him and land back in the road. Bike in front of me barely stopped in time. --Definitely a bad day out on two wheels, but glad no one was seriously hurt.

Sorry guys, no pics yet. Tried to get a beer down to calm the nerves but it didn't work. Hopefully I'll snap some of the bike and the rash.
Overall I got extremely lucky, even though I had to learn the hard way. I just hope I don't have any damage to my shoulder.

Jake, not sure if this would work, but you might be able to sue the city for unsafe road conditions. I mean, that is a ton of sand, and I know people have sued the city for pothole damage, so it may be worth a shot.
