Clifton 2010 Cruise
Clifton 2010 Cruise
Date: Sunday, 13 June 2010
Time: 14:00 - 19:00
Location: Clifton/Burke Area
Street: 8981 Ox Road
Town/City: Lorton, VA
VADriven will be enjoying a drive through one of Virginia's finest historic areas in the Burke/Clifton area for this next meet. If you were at the last meet out in Warrenton, this meet should be very similar! We're hoping for 30+ cars but we definitely need some solid commitments to make this happen!
We will be traveling through carefully routed back roads and main roads(A group of us can meet in Fair Lakes at 1:50PM if you want to follow someone down). Please bring your very best cameras, camcorders and Radar/Laser detectors as everything will need to be used. Even though this meet is carefully planned around the 5-0's, We advise everyone to keep your cars within the speed limit!
After the drive we will be grilling up burgers and hot dogs. We will be bringing plenty of soda, chips, water, and snacks. The limit will be 1 burger, and 1 hot dog. Donations are encouraged.
A Special note to members:
Have your cars looking their finest.
We start at 2PM, no later, no exceptions. Pictures will start promptly at 2PM then and the drive will commence approximately 30 minutes afterward.
Drive safe
Also keep in mind:
If one person in the pack does something idiotic(i.e. burnouts, drifting, chirping tires, aggressive acceleration, etc.) in the wrong environment, the cops have a right to pull us all over. We've checked up on this, none of us want to take the fall for someone else's bad choices. Keep in the pack and stay there as usual(most us are always good but a select few have proven otherwise in the past, you know who you are).
Finally:
As I'm sure it's been mentioned to most of you, please bring cameras/camcorders. I know half of you have decent ones. The more footage and camera angles we have, the better. Now differently from our other meets, we hope to grab your footage after the drive so use an SD card or bring a usb cable. Also, if you have any of you or your friends' car footage of something fun and worth-watching, please feel free to put it on a CD and I'll be happy to incorporate it into our final cut. Thanks.
Car enthusiasts travel very far for many drives. This is a simple 20-minutes out of your way(about 12 minutes from Fair Lakes), and when you experience these roads, you'll forget the destination distance.
Because the majority of the drive and meeting spot(s) will take place in public and residential areas, we will advise all members to keep your engines at low RPM as to help with noise reduction in certain areas(not everywhere, just some areas). We will be passing through several spots where there are very wealthy and easily-angered people, as well as the general public in the parks, that would love to report us to the police and throw residential disturbance charges at us if we demonstrate carelessness with our behavior. Therefore, it is to everyone's benefit to try to maintain a quiet exhaust note through certain backroads, parks and tunnels around these communities(we'll tell you exactly where during the briefing before the drive).
Also keep in mind:
These specific roads contain VERY tight turns, which approach very frequently and are placed very closely together- there will be much more lateral acceleration involved. Because of this, controling your speed and staying in your lane is vital. As always, keep an eye on the car in front of you and what it is doing. Stay on the right side of the road for this drive- apexing over the double yellow line would be extremely dangerous on these roads.
Have fun and see you there!
