How does it do in the sand? We're doing a trip to Cape Hatteras soon and I'd love to take my Jeep on the beach but I've seen a lot of idiots get stuck, and I don't want to be that person getting towed. lol.. Do you have lockers?

You don't need lockers for sand. Just air your tires down and you will be fine. If you find yourself in a bind just put it in 4low and back out.

To be honest unless I am going out for a couple of days I don't even air down and have never been stuck in sand. I play in it in 2wd alot as well.

Although I did just two a blazer out of the soft deep stuff going into Orgen Inlet this week. He wasn't aired down though and I don't think ever drove on the beach.

Cool. Good to know--thanks! I've never driven on sand before, aside from a four wheeler.

Where are you going? If you're going to Oregon Inlet and are on small tires you might want to air down. Even then, I've never aired down and my trucks tires are not very big for something that heavy. The biggest thing is that if you slow down and start spinning... don't just lay into it and spin further. If you're spinning, you're filling in your tracks behind you... making backing out of the situation a non-option. Honestly though, it's no big deal. Put it in 4, and go at it. Just don't drive like a typical squid.

If you're going to Corolla and you get stuck, I have no sympathy.

So it's just like anything else I guess.. I've always been fine in mud and snow and never been stuck because of common sense. I guess some people exaggerate about sand. I'm on 33x12.50's. I'll be fine

Pretty much what they all said. I was in Avon all week and aired down just to be on the safe side. I have 33x12.50's, too and the Jeep literally floated over the sand and I didn't get stuck once. Sand's not super soft down there and we were able to leave it in 4h, but even off the beaten path during high tide it had no problems.

Send me a PM when you're planning on going down there as the surf's been good lately and the g/f wants to do the lighthouse tour again so maybe we can meet up down there.
