Jaguars were never built on Taurus platforms period.

The X-Type used a variant of the CDW27 platform which was shared by the Contour / Mondeo, 99-02 Cougar, and the Mystique.

It was done because Jaguar needed a more affordable car to maintain annual sales of 100,000 units and it could be built in an existing UK factory.

Few parts are swapable between the X-Type and it's Ford cousins. On the other hand some of these Lexus cars are nothing but grill changes.
