6k is not steep at all shit my fullrace b series backdoor kit had a base price of 5200.00 before wanting upgrades like clipped turbines custom size ar. Etc etc

it really depends on the type of turbo,manifold,and intercooler....piping can be custom made for a decent price if u know the right people...but a nice turbo new generally will run u anywhere from 1000-2500 depending on the size and specs....idk really what would be the best option for him but if it were me i would shop around and try to piece a nice kit together....best thing to do is take his time and do it right with nice parts first rather than waste your time on junk and not be satisfied...gl bro..
