Honda Ruckus / Scooter Thread
Yes, def sounds as if the PO changed out the jetting. Thats a very typical step after changing the carb and intake manifold or anything with the intake in general.

1) ECU needs to be reset because it's been disconnected, which means it's advance/retardation of timing is more then likely off(and it's the easiest thing to do). It feels just like ECU cut out when hitting a rev limiter in a car, which leads me to:
2) The rollers might be too light, making the engine bounce off the rev limiter even though I'm not at top speed. For reference, the engine has a fairly consistent "note" through out the variators range, from stop to top speed.
I guess we'll see tomorrow after the reset.
I didn't know that. Guess I should do that tomorrow.
Says it in the manual....some where. I remember reading it and seeing it repeated on TR a lot. I'm thumbing to find it now. It's technically an ECU "re-write" to return it to stock. Jumper wire from 2p service connect to positive side of battery, turn ignition, check lights on...then off ( < means re-writing)...wait for lights to come back on, then turn off.
It's in the link I posted above too... I just didn't know about it, thanks.
