240sx rb20det coil pack problem
so here it is....got a 240sx(s13 1989) about 3 weeks ago. had the rb20 swap already in it. well about a week ago it started missing at low rpm(1500-2500 rpm) while the motor was at running temp. after about 3000 rpm it would clear up and run strong. assumed it was a coil pack. actually got around to pulling the coil packs out to inspect them and found out that the second coil was bad(i assumed) so i swapped the first and second cylinder coils to see if it really was the coil. after switching the coils around i checked the coils again(pulling coil off the plug and listening to the spark) second cylinder coil (which was cylinder one and working) dont work and the coil i pulled off cylinder two (the one i assumed bad) works fine on cylinder one. i checked volts to the second cylinder coil pack and it reads a strong 12v. please help.

It's a coil pack, so it needs power, ground, and a trigger signal. Just checking the power is only part of what you need to do.
And what kind of shitty engine swaps are people doing? Every week there is a bunch of people saying that they just bought a car with a swap and now 3 days later it won't run properly.

Re: 240sx rb20det coil pack problem
I would check the signal pin in the harness going to coilpack two for a ground, if that checks out hopefully it's not the ignitor or ecu. How neat was the wiring done?
You would need a scope to see the trigger signal for the coilpack, or if you're lucky enough to have one of the rb20det ecus with the code leds, if not you'll have to connect the engine check lamp for diagnostics, there's codes somewhere on the net. I think they only had a handful, so it shouldn't be too hard to track down, and I believe one is an ignition trouble code. Anyway good luck, I love the way those motors sound .
