Honda Ruckus / Scooter Thread
I feel this thread going south....
UPDATE: The fucking scooter runs. CLIFFS:
Pulled inside again.
Tried to start (button). The battery didn't have enough power to start it. Tried to kick...nothing.
I pulled the carb and cleaned it....bowl was full, NOTHING in the jets, rest of carb was clean as a whistle.
Pointed fuel line RIGHT before the carb into a cup and turn the key on...FUEL!
put carb back on - Same symptoms
I reset the spring on the kick start to what I believe is it's proper position.
tested battery - 12.5v
Tried button start: 'clickclickclickclick'... nothing... watched the the variator fins jump back in forth like there wasn't enough power.
Kick start was in almost "1 o'clock" position.
Kicked and it started.
REVVED THE SHIT OUT OF IT.
Tested battery while idling - 14.0 volts STEADY, no drop, no gain.
Analysis: Weak battery and the low position of the kick made it so I couldn't start it. Still not sure why it just all of a sudden cut off out side.
Side note: When I pulled the carb off, not ONE drop of coolant came out of the lines. Does this thing have a thermostat? I flushed the rad while it was apart and I followed the service manuals instructions (fill rad/ fill res, start, WOT 3-4 times, re-check and fill if necessary)

why's that?
did you bleed the air out (idle it 1/2 hour - 1 hour with no radiator cap)

Newbs with "silly" questions will draw the trolls.
Shit.... it hasn't been able to idle for a half hour. The one time I left it alone it cut off on me. Thats when the trouble with the battery started.

cant wait to have a big ride
Shouldnt take anywhere near that amount of time to bleed out the air int he system. Get the engine up to temp (doesn't take long). You can accelerate this by holding the throttle open some. The engines already idel high anyhow. However if you bump the throttle a few times you should be able to get any air out of the system really quickly.
