Good auto cross/daily driver car?
There have already been some great suggestions. The SVT Focus is a good auotx car. There was always 2 or 3 out when I was in Illinois.
What about and EP3 Si? I saw one wrecking some much nicer cars out in SE Va this weekend at an autox. They seem to be be under 8k and there are a bunch that are unmolested.

The 240 has one of the most worthless backseats ever put into production, so that leaves either a moosestang, F-body, or old bmw at 8k...and I personally wouldn't want an 8k bmw, fbody or stang. I think the bugeye wrx is the only non fwd option unless I'm forgetting something.
nice ones go for 9-12k.
Get an SVT Contour and you have a car that'll keep up with an M for less than half the price, be cheaper to maintain, newer, and just as rare. I'm not biased in any way of course.

I lost so fucking hard...
but the svt focus is a pretty fun little car. They do very well at auto X, and there is a pretty decent aftermarket.
