Good auto cross/daily driver car?
WRX or Evo might fit your bill; both would be good 4-seat DDs and would be competitive locally. Mini Cooper may, as well.
Something else to consider is the ST reorg is mixing things up a bit, splitting ST into STF and STC and putting other cars specifically into STS, STX and STU. Scroll down to page 19: http://www.scca.com:8080/assets/11-f...k-nov-solo.pdf

E36M3 is a great choice. Especially a 96-99. But make sure you buy one from an enthusiast and/or someone who has kept up with maintenance. Properly maintained, these cars are extremely reliable and tough, but let the regular maintenance slip (cooling system, suspension bushings, p/s hose, etc) and they can get expensive. I went through a few headaches and a blown engine (95 issue only) with a little lack of maintenance over 7 years. But over the last 2 years and probably 50 track days, I haven't had any issues. They are well built, well engineered, and a great choice for DD, track, and/or autox. And I think that's DJ's eclipse up there (Post #72). He sold his DSM, bought an M3, turned it into a racecar, and now he's the NASA National Champ. Can't go wrong with an M3.
