e34 525i's, true are very slow. But, with a little bit of money into them, can be faster than most of these other cars. Less expensive on maintenance than the 540i/530 parts are easier to come by with the m50. same with the e36. 92= m50NV 93-95= m50tu. if you want a better engine for boost m50nv is the way to go, but takes more effort/cost want better gas mileage? m50tu.

If I got a BMW, it would be for a DD. I wouldn't be investing money into it aside from basice bolt ons and cosmetics. Now that I've opened up my search, I'm looking at 3 series cars, just about everything. I don't know WTF I want now. An M3 would certainly be dope... an M5 as well.

I feel that's untrue. m5 > m3 | Turbo m5 > turbo m3 | Turbo 525i <><><<><===^^VV><> Turbo 325i (MINUS) HPF e46 m3....

You are wrong. Sorry.

Do you have any idea how much money you're going to spend putting a turbo on an m5?

M5s have their own list of issues to look out for. Maintenance is key. Stay away from vehicles w/ secondary air issues.

M5 supercharged are not too rare and are fast, but to get there is going to be costly, do not turbo a 5 series, stay with jdm market then, I don't even like turbo e30's. Only fast stock e39 is the M5, then 540 stick, below that who cares.....
As a dd, any e39 will do, stick shift will get you better economy, v8 auto better mpg than auto i6 but a bit more expenive to maintain, you get a 5 series because you want to step up the room, luxury, etc. Stay with 3 series for more fun to drive, a bit less expensive to run/maintain, but still a bmw.

Yes i do. but i wasnt talking about e39 m5s. i was talking about the e34 s38 power plant. no difference in price than turboing s50/s52 m3.
