Personally, I'd rather go 1JZ over going NA-T 2JZ. Millenium Racing Development (MRD) wouldn't be a bad choice either. Last time I was there, they were building a 2JZ'd S14.

a 1jz is very capable but an NA-t set up is quickly affordable. Theres other things that gets overlooked like looking for an ecu and doing the wiring that just makes an NA-t set up easier. two things that are easily answered by going with a standalone and contacting chasebays for a harness. it all depends on how much he wants to spend initially

An NA-t will break a transmission before that bottom end will ever hate anything. The Rods and crank are the same as a TT engine. The only difference are the pistons are higher compression but a headgasket will fix that.
