sold my ducati this weekend. want to buy a buell xb9s. there were 3 for sale last week now there are none will not buy another ducati unless i have the skrilla to buy a brand new one. too much shit can be wrong with them like the kickstand causes the crank case to crack!

 

Monster? And yeah... the kickstand is attached a part of the engine case lol. Silly ducati rook

1999 900ss.. i didnt notice the kickstand issue when i bought it, previous owner fucked it up. i unloaded it for $800 more than i paid for it after only having it for a week though, so score for me. really need something else but cant find anything.

 

Might be a little tough this late in the summer to find a good deal, you never know though.

It probably happened on a trailer. Always happens on the trailer. Someone puts it on the kickstand, tightens it down too far... popsnapCRRRRAAAAACK.

At least its gone, you can be a normal person now.

 

Don't forget to look for the Buell XB12's. Personally, I think the XB12's are better because they don't run a shorter stroke like the XB9's, they end up being easier to upgrade to 1250cc or 1450cc. Bumping the bike up to 1450cc will get you up to 130hp or so but would require splitting the cases and having them bored to accept the larger jugs. Sounds difficult but really isn't that bad. Just be ready to open your wallet REALLY wide for this upgrade.

Maybe think about checking out the HD XR1200's as well. They don't look as much like a crotch rocket but they do handle well and can keep up with the crotch rockets in the twisties. I have thrown a few sport bike riders off their guard while riding through some of the back roads. You can usually find them at a pretty decent price. The 2009/10 XR's have an OK suspension. Many XR owners upgrade using Ohlins components. 2011/12 XR1200x have the upgraded Showa Adjustable Big Piston Forks(BPF) with adjustable piggyback reservoir shocks on the back. I personally have been pleased with them and I'm an agressive rider. Pricing typically ranges from 6k for a 2009 up to 12+k for a new 2012.
