progressive quoted me 12,000 a year for full coverage for my bike... yup, you read that right... but they were still the best i could get for liability... but it will vary from person to person regardless of any possible factor, its almost totally random

I have Progressive.............here's how my policy works:

I own a 2000 Honda CBR600F4 that I HAVE to have full coverage on since I have a loan on it. If I was just insuring this bike alone it would be just over 2k a year for me.

I also own a 1977 Honda CB750fourK and a 1983 Honda Ascot VT500. I have these added to my policy with just liability coverage.

With progressive I recieve a multi policy discount (car and motorcycle) as well as a 10% discount per the whole policy price for every bike that I insure. That means I am getting a 30% discount on my policy. Adding those two older bikes actually LOWERED my policy vice raising it due to that multi bike discount.

Plain english is that the discount I recieve is more than the cost they add to the policy. If I remove them my policy will go up.

There are also other little tricks. Tell them your smallest cc bike is the one you ride the most and the largest cc bike is the one you ride the least.........

It boils down to this: if you are gonna pay an arm and a leg for full coverage insurance on that brand new sportbike you just gotta have then go with an insurance company that gives a multi-bike discount.

Then go pick up a couple 250cc bikes that are super old (early 80's) and add them to your policy with minimal liablity for the state of Virginia. Then your policy will be much lower. These other bikes don't need to be registered or even road worthy. Just a title in your name.........................
