New Purchase "Toyobaru" Inside
I'm sure these things are fun to drive, but $25,000 is steep for what you get. It seems almost like one of those Porsche 911 models where you're basically paying them extra to remove weight and make the car more fun. I like them a lot, but every time I think about one I start to think about how the Genesis Coupe is cheaper, more powerful (even in terms of power-to-weight according to my calculations), and has a 10-year warranty. Your car looks very nice though, I hope you enjoy it and get some more power out of that engine.
base frs: 197hp 2600 pounds 13.1hp per pound
coupe is 700 bucks cheaper at base model
but it all comes down to what the personal buyer would want or else there would be 5 vehicles for everyone to choose.
"too big" is relative to how much interior space you want. The Genesis has more than enough to be perfectly comfortable for both passengers. (yeah it has 4 seats but who HONESTLY uses the back seats for people?)
Too big? The Miata is a tiny car that feels cramped when the top is up, and is alarmingly gay to ride with another guy in the passenger seat based on proximity. If the FR-S is almost the same size I would take the Genesis.
If you're seating distance away from gayness, you're already gay. -A Miata Owner
Thanks, they run a high 14 stock 0-60 around 6.2 seconds. It's not awful, but it's not spectacular. Then again the car isn't built for straight line speed. From what I've gathered, with some better tires (stock ones are the same that come on a prius) it's running with or better than, cars with 50-70 more hp (msp3, wrx, genesis turbo, etc...) So it feels okay, but where the car really shines is the preciseness of the steering and the overall fun to drive factor ( I drive elbow road every day
)
Other cars I've owned:
Supra Turbo
Mr-2 Turbo
2x Lexus IS350
2x SRT-4
4x Legacy GT

Might be forgetting a few

Recent Comparo and this was against a R-Spec which MSRP is 27,xxx
Scion FR-S:
LOVE IT :
Incredible at-the-limit balance and driftability
Low mass improves performance in every way
Driver-focused interior provides great feel and sense of connection
LEAVE IT:
Transmission lacks precision when shifting
Back seat leg and headroom too cramped for human occupants
17-inch wheels and tires look undersized by today’s standards
Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-Spec
LOVE IT: Impressive power from the 2.0L turbocharged engine
Amenity-rich and spacious interior
Luxury sports coupe styling inside and out
LEAVE IT:
Vague transmission requires slow, deliberate shifting style
Understeer at the limit despite R-Spec tuning
High seating position doesn’t give that sports car feeling
The Leave it is sort of what killed it for me and this isn't the first time I've read or heard reviews like that. Mind you this is the R-spec with the upgraded suspension, tires, and Brembos too.
But, if I buy a "sports car" I want it to feel like a sports car too. Not trying to start a debate, just my side and reasoning
. I don't think either would be a bad choice though.
