QUESTIONS ABOUT CLEAR COAT...NEED SOME OTHER PAINTERS ADVISE
So, back story is i have been painting cars for about 3 years on the side and for my grandfathers shop. I recently
bought a s13 hatch and will be painting it myself either B95-P Electron Blue Pearl (99-00 Civic SI) or TV2 Bayside Blue metallic (R34 Nissan Skyline). Im really happy with Dupont paint but i wish there clear coat had more
shine to it, so im looking at other brands of clear coat like House of Kolors. I really want a high gloss shine, so im looking for others advise on brands of clear coat and who thanks what is best any input would be greatly appreciated.
Car will mostly be used as a track slut/ parking lot/ show event whore

we use nason at work and i like it more than dupont as far as clear goes. you could always try glazurit (or however the fuck its spelled) as well, but that shit is super expensive

I'm no painter but have been gifted with the ability of working well with my hands, I 've been my cars as we'll as a couple others for extra money on the side.
I've used Nason, Dupont and PPG products and for a whole car all around I'd use Nason base/clear, mainly for the cost effectiveness of it. Before I painted my car (latest paint job) I asked the guys at Finish Masters about a "step up" from their regular 498 Nason Clear, instantly they recommended the 465 clear (4 to 1 plus 20%), I was a little skeptical at first but they were right on, I've never sprayed a clear that laid so smooth without virtually and orange peel (with a home-made booth). The price differeance was noticeable but WELL WORTH IT!
I highly recommend it. Nason 465, mix 4 to 1 plus 20%. A gallon will run you about $175, the activator about $40 and reducer about $20 or so ( I could be off on the price)
Good luck, If I can help you in any way feel free to shoot me a PM.

I forgot the exact name and part number of the ppg clear that my cousin used on his bike and his delsol .. I do know when we picked it up the sales man said it was ppg euro clear(he said top of the line ppg clear). . Long story short that clear had the best shine out of all the clears ive seen him use .. his shop uses ppg, shop line, nasson, dupont, sycins(however its spelled), and house of kolor.. it takes a little longer to dry and mix's to make 1 1/2 gallon.... very nice shine
