Post a pic of your offroader/4x4.
Lately i`ve wanted to do a AMC eagle crawler or cheromanchee my DD and do it up as a mild trail capable wheeler for deep mountain camping and canoe trips...decisions decisions...
BTW i just recently obtained my grandfathers canoe from back when he was a scout master in the 60s. I really need to go on a canoe adventure this year. So long as the stock/beat xj can venture to said destination. After i`m finally done with the bike i`ll prolly turn my attention toward making the cherokee a more capable vehicle on the trail. Nothing like my last TJ though, that thing got a bit overboard for day to day driving and was a pain in the dick to drive on the highway.
I need capable/practical in my life.

so i have been looking into v8 / or 4.0L swaps for the wrangler..... lets just say its gonna definitely be a 4 cyl for a good long while. haha
IMO, and most will agree, if you're going to swap from a 2.5L to something bigger, don't waste your time with the 4.0L. While bulletproof, it's not as easy as just dropping it in, and you might as well go with something else if you're going to be spending that kind of money to begin with. If you insist on going 4.0L, I have the one I pulled out of mine if you're interested in rebuilding a motor, or you could probably find one at a salvage yard for $500-800 on a reasonable day.
^what this guy right here said.
If you're going to swap, IF you indeed are; go V8. Jeep 4.0's, though reliable, leave a lot to be desired. I had a TJ (not the black one) with a 2.4 and NV 5-speed, swapped in the NSG 6-speed, sucked.. swapped in a stock 4.0 to the 6-speed, still sucked.

5.9 acquired. Able to use factory gauges.
Was going GM but for the price of the 5.9 and the fact I don't have to go aftermarket gauges. Sure why not
